About Us

The Great Valley Youth Wrestling Association is an all-volunteer, non-profit youth wrestling organization dedicated to introducing local Kindergarten through 8th Grade students to the sport of wrestling. The focus of our program is to build self-discipline, sportsmanship, self-confidence, compassion and physical fitness while providing a safe and fun environment.  The organization was started back in the mid 1960’s by Mr. Sid Nodland and two women Mrs. Nancy Carothers & Mrs. Jane Stoltz. who wanted to find a way to see the sport of wrestling being taught to the youth in the area.  In the Mid 1960’s they conducted the first Junior Olympic tournament at Great Valley High School.  The tournament continues today and serves hundreds of young wrestlers from in and around the Pennsylvania area.  The tournament is known today as the MAWA District Qualifier   We are a part of the Inter-County Wrestling League (known as the ICWL).
